Gilgit-Baltistan is the land where lofty peaks tower above rich valleys and lakes of great scenic beauty, a paradise for the hikers, trekkers, anglers, mountaineers, adventurers, polo enthusiasts, nature lovers and those interested in observing exotic areas and life styles. A visit to Gilgit-Baltistan gives one an opportunity to leisurely become acquainted with the mountain people.
Another major attraction of the region is Hunza, where the blooming spring with pleasant smell, captivating summer with contrast between lush green fields, trees and snow-bound mountains, and colorful autumn gives an ultimate aura to travelers. Traveling in soft-roof safari oriented jeeps to the pristine villages along non- metaled roads has an added charm. As you drive along, you catch intermittent glimpses of glaciers, gleaming white peaks and ridges surrounded by wide expense of smooth snow.
Batura valley is well known for its summer herds, best touristy spots, and the Panoramic views of the Batura Wall (7785 meters), Passu (7284 meters) & Shishper Peak (7611 meters) with its ice falls is superb. Also you will experience a breathtaking view one of the crystal clear water of Lupdur Lake. After halfway between Kukhil and Guchsum is the wide plateau of Shelmin where the Wrthum brook flows from the North. This is much tougher route than Kilik or Mintaka but not a technical one.
Arrive in Islamabad and catch a scenic flight to Skardu, the heart of Baltistan nestled in the Karakoram mountains. Upon arrival, check in and enjoy free time to acclimatize or explore the town and surroundings if time permits.

Begin the full-day drive from Skardu to Hunza along the awe-inspiring Karakoram Highway. Witness dramatic changes in landscape, from Baltistan’s rocky valleys to Hunza’s green, terraced villages and iconic peaks.

After breakfast, drive further north to Passu, a picturesque village nestled under the famous Passu Cones. Visit Attabad Lake, the Hussaini Suspension Bridge, and enjoy views of the Batura Glacier along the way.

Start your trekking adventure with a spectacular traverse of the Batura Glacier, one of the longest and widest outside the polar regions. Have lunch at Vozokpirth (Ali Dad’s House) and continue trekking along the moraine to reach Yashperth, a traditional shepherd settlement. Experience life amidst nature, ice, and pastureland.

Continue along the lateral moraine, with close-up views of Batura Massif and frequent glacier avalanches. Have lunch at Kuk Hail before reaching Guchesm, surrounded by snow-capped peaks and green alpine meadows.

Enjoy a relaxed day with a short hike to Lupdur Lake, known for its pristine alpine setting. Spend time swimming or relaxing beside the crystal-clear waters before returning to Guchesm.

Gradually ascend from the alpine meadows to Werthum Base Camp, surrounded by dramatic views of the upper glacier and jagged peaks.

Ascend to Werthum Pass with sweeping views of the Batura Wall and surrounding peaks. This is one of the high points of the trek in both elevation and experience.

Descend gently through alpine pastures and meadows toward Harkeesh. Enjoy the changing landscapes and opportunity to spot wildlife.

A scenic walk through traditional Wakhi fields and irrigation channels brings you to Raminj, one of the lower villages in the valley.

Conclude the trekking portion with a scenic drive back to Passu. On arrival, enjoy a hot shower and a comfortable night’s rest while reminiscing on your glacier adventure.

Travel south along the Karakoram Highway to Gilgit. In the afternoon, visit the famous Kargha Buddha Rock Carving and explore Gilgit’s vibrant bazaar.

Weather permitting, take a flight to Islamabad for breathtaking aerial views of the Karakoram. If the flight is cancelled, enjoy a scenic road journey to Besham via the Indus River route.
