Shimshal Valley has plenty to offer us such as a lot of gigantic glaciers, numerous snow blanketed peaks, beautiful passes, fairy meadows, streams, crystal lush green and wild flower grazing lands. The traditional migration of sheep, goats, and yaks provides some of Gojal’s most exquisite trekking. Mingling Sar (6050m) is located deep in the Shimshal Valley in Hunza neighboring the Chinese southernmost mountain range Kun Lun. Shimshal Lake sits at the base of the mountain near the Shimshal Pass (4735). This exciting trip takes you through the steep Shimshal Gorge to the settlement and beyond through the high pasturelands of the mysterious Pamir on the dividing line between south Asia and central Asia. You will see large herds of Yaks, sheep, goats and sometimes ibex grazing, blue sheep on these high grasslands. Snow leopard often visits these pastures for agoat or yak meals. In our journey we will come across steep passes, glaciers, lakes and beautiful valleys. The famous historical Shimshal pass was the route of Hunza raiders on trade caravans traveling over the Karakorum Pass between China and India in ancient times. The trek to Minglig Sar start from Shimshal Valley and it is possible to climb Minglig Sar in one day but requires good physical fitness, acclimatization and obviously good luck with weather. One of the great attractions and highlight of this climb is a glimpse of the North Face of K2 far on the South Eastern horizon with some luck and clear weather.
